Hallo all ^_^
So Japan is really nice so far, still settling in tho. I STILL don't have internet at the apartment (I'm gonna DIE), but at least I should be up by the 22nd. of December. Boo.

Up until then, feel free to read my blog to see what's going on. And by see, I mean read.

Going to Ise on Sunday, pretty excited. I intend to take tons of pics and post them...somewhere... ^_^

Hope everyone else is doing well!

For updates on my life, I've posted twice here: http://trianotabi.blogspot.com/

Class in a little, so no time to update more!

here's where my blog is for people who want to read it while I'm in Japan: http://trianotabi.blogspot.com/

So it's totally pouring, but as long as I don't go outside, I'm happy. Until I have to go babysit. Bleh.

In any case, everything for Japan is moving along, I have the good majority of the comics I wanted done, done, Visa process is finished, we just have to get BACK up to the city to GET the finished product. Other than that, we need to get traveler's checks, I need to finish my quilt, need to draw one last character page for the webcomic, need to finish hemming my pants ^_^;;;; need to see Mad and Jan before I leave T_T etc etc.

For those who are not in the Japan loop, I'm moving to Nishio at the end of October. Nishio is in Aichi-ken, about 45 minutes towards the coast from Nagoya. My info is up on my school's website, if you want to see, along with Brad's! http://www.nacenglish.com/Our-Team.html We have an apartment waiting (I can't wait to furnish it) and the only thing I'm really nervous about is the plane flight (I hate flying) and teaching (since I'll be the only teacher and I'll decide the curriculum). I also want to start a blog, so if anyone has any tips ^_^;;;; I'd love to hear them.

So yes, so far, that's about it. Married life is going well, even if it's pretty much the same as dating-life. In any case, all is good, aside from my levels of stress about this all. Brad's mom wanted us to fly out and visit them this weekend, but I've so much to do, I want to see Jan and Mad, AND I can't handle a flight before the big one T_________T

My tiny computer is very nice, it's allowing me to play a game that is a pain to run on English Windows, even if it's essentially a novel and REALLY hard to read (Japanese of course), and it's letting me get some story writing done, which I also plan to do on the plane.

I think that's about it for now, hopefully I'll write more here when I'm in Japan. ^_^;;;

Getting frustrated with politics. and no, It's not that I feel "betrayed" and that all the
promises of change were a liiiiie" I'm getting annoyed with people SAYING that. Wanna know why?
He's been in office 8 months. 8 MONTHS. What can YOU do in 8 months? When the insurance companies and the angry right are forming lies about your plan that will FIX the economy. Not to mention that 8 MONTHS is no where near enough time to fix the 8 YEARS that the last administration took to fuck up what Clinton left.
I also wish that people would actually learn about the health care Obama intends to give us instead of blindly listening to the insurance companies and Fox Tv. I'd also like to point out that most the people complaining HAVE health care and probably don't ever remember, or have ever lost health care.
I, on the other hand, do NOT have health care. And I'm one of those people who NEEDS it. My company dropped me right after I graduated, so I'm out in the cold with no money to pay for a more expensive option, since that's the only option. I'm on a lot of medications, but the other plans won't cover that. I have to go get an ultrasound b/c something may be wrong with my ovaries, but under the current system, I'm not covered.
On the other hand, my sister in Ireland has had two children and had a bad run in with antibiotics and was able to just waltz in and get everything looked at, no prob. And she AND her husband are UNEMPLOYED. There's no way they'd survive here. She might have even died (she accidentally poisoned herself with antibiotics and got jaundice and other nasty stuff). Universal healthcare will NOT kill anyone. I think Palin showed this country's ignorance the most when she said she didn't want her grandmother and her child with down syndrome up in front of a "death council". Um, does she not realize that under the system Obama is proposing, her child with down syndrome will be COVERED, while as under the current system it will be a PREEXISTING CONDITION!!!!!! DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH! OMG! Not to mention that the people fail to realize that, as they're complaining about something they know NOTHING about, they're killing the 50 million or whatever people WITHOUT healthcare. (but since they're not related and just poor people, ah, who gives a shit, really). *sighs*
I can't WAIT to go to Japan and get on their healthcare. Since I didn't work this year, I'll have really cheap healthcare for the first year. I can't wait to get out of this country with idiotic people with unreasonable expectations, the hypocrites, and the people who are digging in their feet and inconveniencing the rest of us JUST B/C THEY HATE THE DEMOCRATS.
And it's not like Obama got us into a war based on LIES and let how many people die? That seems much worse, in my opinion.
Sigh. I needed to get that rant out. I can't wait to get away from it all. The Daily Show is the only thing I can look at, news-wise, anymore.
I guess I'll go look at cute babies now, to calm my rage.
Yeesh.

ANIME CONVENTION FACTS

1. How many times have you been to a convention?
nine or ten, not sure.

2. Do you sleep at conventions?
Yes. I crash earlier, depending if I've been selling all day or not

3. Do you eat?
YES. I'm always hungry...one I get away from the table. And I learned my lesson from Fanime 05.

4. Are you shameless at conventions?
nope

5. On average, how much money do you spend?
AHAHAHAHAHA...eh...
If I have lots of money in surplus, I spend a lot. If I have no job and have to get married in a few months, I try to buy only things I REALLY want.

6. Do you go to conventions to pick up people?
It wasn't on purpose, but I sure learned THAT lesson hard. I find that going with a boyfriend is a lot better than finding one there.

7. Do you go to conventions to bang people?
0_o WHY? God, no.

8. How much cellulite do you see when you go to conventions?
Depends on the convention.

9. Do you cosplay?
YUP! I hate feeling left out ^_^

10. Does your cosplay show a lot of skin?
Not really. Usually just the girls, and only then it went Winry, Tylee, Sakura in order of most to least skin shown.

11. Is your cosplay the epitome of badassery?
Allen was pretty badass. I still regret not making Haru, who KNOWS the next con i'll get to in the states T_T

12. Do you wait in line for things...ie; hentai fest, yaoi fest, autographs, ceremonies?
Only to get my badge. I don't like people and I don't like Lines.

13. How many friends have you met from conventions?
oh, a LOT. I'm surprised that I'm in better contact with them thatn I am with old school friends.

14. Have you ever been drunk at a convention?
Nope!

15. Name your conventions:
Fanime 04
Fanime 05
Jtaf ...05? at some other point to possibly? I can't remember

I have tooooo many things I want to do:
Anime to catch up on, manga to read, pictures to draw, things to be creative with, stories to write.
I usually have the uninspired problem, but now I have the problem of I want to draw, write, sew and WHATEVER ALLL at the same time.
Is very frustrating. Not to mention all the webcomic stuff I need to do. And the commishes. Silly wedding all getting in the way and stuff. Speaking of which, I have stuff to do for THAT too.

BUT NOW I WANT TO BE CREATIVE!!!! T__________T

So, overall, best 4th in a long while. I wore my white sweater, and a Canada and an America button (so that Canada could have a bit of belated birthday fun, and to complete the red, white and blue), and then, fittingly, ate a hamburger for dinner! My god father made AMAZING icecream: Andes mint, something with "squirrel" in the title, chocolate, coffee, olloliberry with tiny peanut butter cups and my all time favorite, coconut with rum and cashews (YUUUUM).
Then we went down to the beach and our group and a bunch of other people set off totally awesome fireworks, all around and directly over us. The po-po came by a lot, but didn't actually bust anyone. They told us we had to be off the beach by 10, and we all booed! heeheheheh
all in all, a good 4th!

Ok, let me run this by all you people.
The word "stooped" as in "to stoop" like, to duck and stuff.
You all have heard that word, right?
B/c most if not ALL of my linguistics class HADN'T.
I had to keep from yelling at all of them.
And this is a smart school too. *sighs*

EDIT:
I gave allowances for the people who don't know English in the class, of course, but the person presenting on the subject didn't know the word, and then this other total moron who sounds drugged out the whole time didn't know it and people giggled at the word b/c it sounded funny and they'd never heard it before. That class is mostly full of morons and I want to smack them. I guess I'm mostly depressed by the fact that it's clear that people just aren't reading anymore and don't really care about learning. Again, mostly directed at this class. people arrive late, people don't show up, grrr. I don't know how they pass (and by late , I mean 20-45 min late). And they talk while sensei is talking. grrrrrr!

So life has been...interesting.
A whole bunch of changes have occurred, so I'm thinking people who know me might like to be updated.
I graduate on the 14th. I have less than 3 weeks of actual school left and a week of finals (that will mostly be spent packing). Two papers to write (one on moe and one on the snow queen) and a ceramics project to finish. then I have two finals, one the week before finals and the other take home (which is awesome). My parents will fly over on the thursday of finals week and I can't wait to see them. Brad's parents arrive on Saturday and then we'll do fun things. That was the general plan.
Then I hear from Brad (this was a few weeks ago) that he hates his job. They're apparently making him do more stuff than just the programing that he's really good at, and adding the stress of dealing with a whole bunch of idiots on top of all the work he has to do. I don't know the details, and I doubt I'll press to find out, I don't want to make him feel bad. Essentially this means that we can live ANYWHERE and work ANYWHERE.
We're moving out of our apartment on June 26th. Hopefully July 1st, we're flying back to CA and living there until we find jobs. I can't even explain how overjoyed I am to be coming home. Who knew I missed it so badly? Brad needs to get his butt moving on resumes (there's a job window in CA and he needs to get them in soon). I've been looking into work in Japan, and I have a few options. The newest one was sent to me from Bill, so hopefully that'll work out (I'd rather work for a smaller company than a huge one, and living in Matsue sounds lovely ^_^). Hopefully things will get worked out. As it is now, I'll probably be in CA until August or september, at the earliest. If I get into Interac, I won't leave until March. *crosses fingers* I want to go to Japan so badly >___________< But I can't wait to go home! I've already started planning the clean up of my room and I'm looking for summer work.
On a sadder note, my two older cats have died. Blinkie went a few months ago, Winkie just last week. I haven't really talked about it b/c everytime I think about it, I start crying. It's hard having everything that connected me with my childhood (moving out of my old home, my kitties) are all gone now. I think I'll be better once I get home to where I feel comfortable, but it's a but hard with the stress load I have at the moment.
I just hope everything works out. It's so hard not knowing the future and not being able to DO anything about it (I have to wait and hear from people about stuff). However, perhaps there's a reason that I didn't get the jobs I applied for out here. Who knows.

Ok, I'm writing a paper on Japanese slang. I'm trying to find out why the meaning of moe is different in America and I've asked the hetalia com and seem to be getting a lot of info. but I thought there might be some people on my F-list that would be able to answer:

(please answer with your opinion of moe, as you've seen it used in America. If your original understanding of moe was the Japanese meaning, do write that and also write what you think the Japanese meaning is.)

What do you think moe to be? And what characters do you associate it with? Also, where did you first hear about moe/how did you come to start using it? (i.e. I first learned about moe from Lucky star)

DON'T look up the meaning on wikipedia, I don't really agree with it/I don't want any cheating. I want to know how moe is being used in America.

on the homework front, I have to write a paper on the Snow Queen soon and I have to talk about other places that theme shows up. So far, I have narnia and Sailor moon. Wooo.

Most of you have already seen this, so I don't want to bore you ^_^

ACEN IS ALMOST FINALLY HERE! We leave today for Chicago and tomorrow, the con starts! Also, boy I'm up at God-awful in the morning. Practice for tomorrow, I suppose. Need to pack today, and finish up a paper and keep hydrating so I can kill this cold that snuck up on me two days ago (seriously, 30 glasses of water a day is enough to confuse any sore throat). So yes. Fun will be had, hopefully. and lots of money too. Yay for money!
