Getting frustrated with politics. and no, It's not that I feel "betrayed" and that all the
promises of change were a liiiiie" I'm getting annoyed with people SAYING that. Wanna know why?
He's been in office 8 months. 8 MONTHS. What can YOU do in 8 months? When the insurance companies and the angry right are forming lies about your plan that will FIX the economy. Not to mention that 8 MONTHS is no where near enough time to fix the 8 YEARS that the last administration took to fuck up what Clinton left.
I also wish that people would actually learn about the health care Obama intends to give us instead of blindly listening to the insurance companies and Fox Tv. I'd also like to point out that most the people complaining HAVE health care and probably don't ever remember, or have ever lost health care.
I, on the other hand, do NOT have health care. And I'm one of those people who NEEDS it. My company dropped me right after I graduated, so I'm out in the cold with no money to pay for a more expensive option, since that's the only option. I'm on a lot of medications, but the other plans won't cover that. I have to go get an ultrasound b/c something may be wrong with my ovaries, but under the current system, I'm not covered.
On the other hand, my sister in Ireland has had two children and had a bad run in with antibiotics and was able to just waltz in and get everything looked at, no prob. And she AND her husband are UNEMPLOYED. There's no way they'd survive here. She might have even died (she accidentally poisoned herself with antibiotics and got jaundice and other nasty stuff). Universal healthcare will NOT kill anyone. I think Palin showed this country's ignorance the most when she said she didn't want her grandmother and her child with down syndrome up in front of a "death council". Um, does she not realize that under the system Obama is proposing, her child with down syndrome will be COVERED, while as under the current system it will be a PREEXISTING CONDITION!!!!!! DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH! OMG! Not to mention that the people fail to realize that, as they're complaining about something they know NOTHING about, they're killing the 50 million or whatever people WITHOUT healthcare. (but since they're not related and just poor people, ah, who gives a shit, really). *sighs*
I can't WAIT to go to Japan and get on their healthcare. Since I didn't work this year, I'll have really cheap healthcare for the first year. I can't wait to get out of this country with idiotic people with unreasonable expectations, the hypocrites, and the people who are digging in their feet and inconveniencing the rest of us JUST B/C THEY HATE THE DEMOCRATS.
And it's not like Obama got us into a war based on LIES and let how many people die? That seems much worse, in my opinion.
Sigh. I needed to get that rant out. I can't wait to get away from it all. The Daily Show is the only thing I can look at, news-wise, anymore.
I guess I'll go look at cute babies now, to calm my rage.
Yeesh.

Yeah, people can be just that stupid. It's quite disappointing. Personally, I see nothing wrong with universal health care.

*hugs* You're getting married on Sunday! Think happy thoughts about that. =D

well, universal care isn't perfect, but it's a billion times better than what we got.

WOOOOOO!!! It's so lovely having people agree on this topic since the news only shows people being angry and disagreeing. It makes me sad T_T

I hear you. Personally, I favor a public option with regards to health care, which would allow people to choose a government health plan if they wanted to, rather than forcing everyone in the country to be on a single care provider. I agree with you that most people who are shouting down Obama's health care reform have health care. I have been extremely fortunate in that my father's insurance will cover me until I'm 25. Most people in my position aren't so lucky. It's a SHAME that the United States is supposedly so wealthy, but does so little for the welfare of her people.

I could go on a tiny rant about how many of these people are afraid of "socialists" (I doubt they actually know the meaning of the word, all they know is that Fox News told them it's scary and bad!). I'm terribly afraid that they're really just afraid of Obama the "scary black man," but that's the cynicism talking.

I have also been watching Jon Stewart, but I also think it's important to take him with a grain of salt. He's massively entertaining, but his show also digs up the worst, most bone-headed factions of society and puts them on TV so we can all *headdesk* and laugh at their foolishness. I am really hoping that they are not representative.

See, it's not just the daily show that I see the angry yelling people. it's also in the Santa Cruz newspapers, and the fact that there are angry people HERE is REALLY scary.
And you're lucky you get insurance until age 25 T_T

I'm really surprised that you're getting the angry yelling people out in California. But then again, California (no offense meant) can do silly things sometimes, like pass Proposition 8 and elect Arnold Schwartzenhoweveryouspellit governor (not like my home state did much better. Oh Illinois...). I would like it if people did a little more critical thinking with regards to where their information comes from. Seriously, Death Panels? People are actually worried about Death Panels? That strikes me as totally ridiculous, and when looked at rationally, it's easy to see that the Death Panel thing came from Fox News, which wants to undermine Obama at every turn. Not exactly an objective information source. The same is true of Jon Stewart, and while I adore his show, I have to read my news from several places to get a big, multifaceted picture.

I too am terribly frustrated by those with a knee jerk reaction against everything Obama says (although, to be perfectly fair here, I had a knee jerk reaction against pretty much everything Bush did). Universal Health Care? DEATH PANELS! Cap and Trade Carbon Bill? JOB KILLER! Looking out for America's people? SOCIALISM! The nasty thing is all these soundbites seem to come from Fox News and politicians like Sarah Palin. *throws up a little* Also, on a side note, Glenn Beck is possibly the most ridiculous "news" fellow I've ever seen. Crying on air because he's SO SCARED of the direction America is going? Man up, you pansy! Real news anchors don't get all weepy on air because they're SO SCARED.

Agreed. The worst part is that people are pretty unconvincable these days so nothing you can say will convince them. I was actually considering moving to England. I hear their universal health care isn't that bad.

it's not at all. In fact, most countries are better off than we are when it comes to health care. And I'm moving to Japan, sooo, hurrah ^_^
